Accessibility
What has been built into this site, what has not, and how to tell us when something does not work.
This site is built to the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines. That is the standard we work to, not a certification: no third party has audited this site. What follows is what is actually in the code, so you can judge it rather than take our word for it.
Structure and keyboard
Every page starts with a skip link to the main content. Headings run in order and describe the section they open, so a screen reader can move by heading. Everything that can be clicked can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in the order the page reads. The focus ring is deliberately visible and has not been removed anywhere. The mobile menu can be closed with Escape.
Color and contrast
Body text and headings clear the 4.5:1 contrast ratio on every background used on the site. The accent color was darkened specifically to clear that ratio on both the paper and white backgrounds rather than only on one. Color is not the only way any status or link is signalled.
Forms
Every field has a visible label, not a placeholder standing in for one. Errors are written out in words beside the field they belong to, and announced, rather than collected at the top of the page. Optional fields say so.
Targets and images
Buttons, navigation items, breadcrumbs and form fields carry a minimum height of 44 pixels so they can be hit without fine motor control. Links inside body text are sized by the text around them and are smaller than that; if that causes you a problem, tell us and we will change it.
Photographs carry alternative text naming the property and its location. Images that are purely decorative are marked as decorative so they are skipped rather than read out.
Motion
The site has scroll and hover animation. All of it is switched off for anyone whose system is set to reduce motion, and nothing on the site moves, flashes or auto-plays in a way that cannot be stopped.
Pages are styled for print: navigation, buttons and decoration come off, text prints black on white, and destinations for external links are spelled out so a printed page stays useful.
What we have not done
There has been no independent accessibility audit, no formal screen reader testing program, and there is no VPAT or accessibility conformance report. If you need one for a vendor approval, ask and we will talk about commissioning it.
